What supplements should I take if I have Covid-19?

I contracted SARS-CoV-2 back in March and have to say I was a lucky one. My symptoms were manageable with the help of my anti-viral protocol.

En route from Mexico, almost no one on my flight was wearing a mask. When I landed back home at LAX, I came down with a mild fever that quickly resolved with the help of Boiron Coldcalm Cold Relief Homeopathic tablets and Black Cumin Seed oil (anti-viral).

Later in the week, I experienced a bad headache, fatigue, and a hacking dry cough that only came up when I was exposed to cold air. But no congestion, sore throat, or even a runny nose.

I continued to take Black Cumin Seed oil, high doses of Vitamin C, Zinc, Vitamin D, Elderberry syrup, Glutathione, and fresh ginger tea on repeat.

After much research, I have compiled a list of supplements I highly recommend to manage and minimize the effects of a virus.

  • Vitamin C – the body’s need and capacity for vitamin C increases during infection and provides anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.

  • Vitamin A – supports the immune system to stop replication and progression of viral infections.

  • Zinc – high doses can be taken for three to five days to boost immune function and prevent replication of the virus.

  • Vitamin D3 – an important part of optimal immune function, bone health, and brain health. This should be taken preventatively and for one to three days during acute illness.

  • Oscillococcinum (Boiron) – addresses fatigue, headache, body aches, chills, and fever; should be taken at the first sign of illness (homeopathy).

  • L-Lysine – can be taken to prevent virus replication for three to five days.

  • Quercetin – anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects and may reduce symptoms; works synergistically with Vitamin C to disrupt virus entry and replication.

  • Elderberry – may help to prevent the early stage of Covid-19 infection, as it contains compounds that decrease the ability of viruses to infect cells.

  • Liposomal Glutathione – inhibits replication and reduces viral load; shown to aid against respiratory distress in patients with Covid-19 pneumonia.

  • NAC (n-acetyl-cysteine) – may reduce symptoms of influenza infections, especially in the elderly. It also has the ability to reduce mucus buildup in the lungs.

  • Host Defense (My Community) – this mushroom/mycelium blend appears to downregulate the inflammatory cytokine response that characterizes the symptoms of Covid-19 infection.

I hope that you will use this list to consult with your physician on the right supplements and dosage for your condition. Covid-19 is still a new virus and we are learning more every day.

If you would like to schedule a Covid-19 consultation with me or order supplements directly from my dispensary, I have created a new category called Covid, listing my favorite brands and recommendations.
